Wu long is the opposite where the game designer wants to force you to play the game the way they decided its meant to be played and will punish you for trying anything else In elden ring if you want you can put all of your points into intelligence and one shot most enemies from distance, hell you can comet azur most bosses int the game and while the game doesn't have a difficulty slide you can use summons, spells and all sorts of things to make things much more accessible The difference is that elden ring doesn't force you to parry and even the most bs of attacks like waterfowl dance have multiple simple counters like the frost jar, vow of the indomitable, barriace shield etc. I will get down voted to oblivion for saying this but i dont care this has to be said, don't listen to the people who say elden ring is harder However, they're fundamentally different - most of these comments I'm reading are from people that dont seem to have a grasp of either game really People that tell you you're gonna dislike it are because they think you won't like the hard enemies and bosses, cause Wo Long is easier than Elden Ring mechanically once you get a hang of the combat in both. Or its because Elden Ring allows you more freedom to tackle things in different order, and you can demolish much of the game with OP spells and specific weapons since builds and weapons are not balanced - not that its necessarily a bad thing. People that tell you you're gonna love Elden Ring are saying it cause they love Elden Ring. They're very different.I would recommend you try it, but Elden Ring gave me more rage than Wo Long did easily though I have a lot of experience playing earlier souls games so most of tht rage was compared to expectations i had from past games. Some awesome environmental design too!Įlden Ring worked for me too, but that was a lot of co-op and magic spam from a safe distance. If a game requires effort and dedication to even progress through, fuck that I've got a few other hobbies I'd rather sink those resources into.įallen Order had similar mechanics and difficulty settings, it was quite well implemented too. Personally I've only got the time or energy to play for little bits at a time. Same way old people bond over kids having it easy, and how walking uphill both ways was oh so difficult, back in their days. I sort of get it, the challenge becomes its own core experience, and those who get over the hump have that shared experience.
